IEEE –ICT Student Members and Staff attend "Symposium on Internet of Things and Big Data"

A symposium on Internet of Things and Big Data sponsored by the IEEE Oman was conducted on 14th May 2018 in Caledonian College of Engineering. It was attended by six ICT-IEEE student members along with three staff members namely Mr. K. Shamganth, Mr. Pratapa Raju and Mr. Saravanakumar.

Dr. Ali Amur Ali Al Shidhani, Director of Research Centers and ICT Research, The Research Council, Oman served as the keynote speaker. The Symposium consisted of two sessions. The first session talked on the three topics -Technologies used in Cellular IoT and its features and benefits by Mr.Christopher Surla , Customer, Network Support Engineer, Ericsson Oman LLC . Mr.Amjid Ali, Head of Business, The Integrated Connection LLC, Oman talked on the Big Data and Predictive analysis, and the last topic Supporting Big Data from the Sky was discussed by Dr. Nafaa Jabeur, Head of Department, Department of Computer Science, GU Tech.

The second session had three invited speakers. The first talk is on IoT: Advanced Data Analytics and Machine Learning by Dr.S.Thirumurugan, Department of Information Technology, Sohar College of Applied Sciences. Second talk was given by Dr.Ramalingam, from the Department of Information Technology, Majan College and discussed on the topic IoT: Opportunities and Challenges for Engineering Students to Envision Real World Scenarios + Live Demo by Student . Symposium was concluded with the lecture on Potential for Big Data to Address Higher Education Challenges by Mr.Mohamed A Riffai Head of Department - IT and Systems, Caledonian College of Engineering.
